scarsfell griffon

Heres what im working on this week along with some more high elves if i have time and big kromac.

Its my new scarsfell, WIP atm, i think im gonna stick with the black headscarf, loincloth and fingerless gloves (cus yunno he wants to rip your face off, but dosn't want his poor handsies to get cold) that the privateer guys used, but make him have a dark skintone like my feral, as a midtone to black clothes and the white wings. Also the armours as usual, so we'll have quite a neutral model with a few spot colours on the armour and im going to try some red glowing eyes if i think as well to add some focus on the models face. Also dont know whether I want to out some small scars on his arms and other exposed flesh as the beasties called a "scarsfell" after all, though it might look a bit weird on such a small model, but i might just try a small one for a little touch.

Working on some seaguard, trying out the new spray paint its the plate metal from army painter its sped up the process helluva lot, i think they look pretty cool. The bottom pic is after one wash, the top one is the finished picture, one of them was done with a black undercoat so i dont think it can be noticed, i think they all look the same painting wise.

Lore master and skycutter

First up the loremaster, he's done and dusted and im very happy with how he turned out, possibly the best in my collection.

Also here is my skycutter im working on, i've pinned the chariot so that i can configure the crew in anyway, and they're spreayed and ready to paint. I think it looks pretty cool so far i actually like the model, i know a lot of people hate it because its unusual, but i think we have to take an "its magic i havn't gotta explain shit" attitude about it.

charioteer 1

Charioteer numero uno, i really like this model its really good at simple design without being overcomlicated like some models these days.

Chariots

Currently working on my chariot unit (i want 3 chariots and a chariot prince because theyr'e awesome!)

First pics the one im working on now, its the 6th ed chariot (all crew present but unpainted, the spears actually visable in the left corner) its coming along pretty well, i really like how the sculpted bits on the front of the chariot came out they look cool, now just to get the bows on the side painted and some detailing and shading on the wheels because they look as flat as a pancake.

Second pics done thats a 4th edition chariot (from 1993, the bastards older than me lol) that came in awful condition from ebay the chariot yoke was missing, and had no horses so i used the ones left over from my old lion chariot and the riders weapon was trashed so i re-built and kit bashed to make him an on-foot noble and re-built the yoke with greenstuff as best as i could.
I then found the bow armed dude on ebay (god bless ebay!) and used one of the metal sea guard that are on my painting table waiting to be done as the second crew man. He looks cool in there i think and his wargear makes sence as he does have a spear and bow in the rules so i like it.

And lastly the final model is sefalyn the old special character, i'll probably just use him as a prince i love the model so when i saw it going online cheapo i snapped it up before somone else could get it!

 

I have another chariot (another 4th ed i found on ebay) coming in the post, as he's intact unlike the old one im going to have him as the prince and get the newer plastic kit to round off the unit and use the lions as unit fillers for my white lions mounting the charioteers dressed as lions on the legs of some old cavalry i have lying round to make good old lion cavalry! Which i think everyone will probably agree is the most commonly done conversion in the whole of the high elf army.

BATTLE TIME!

Me and my dad were going to play tonight as were both in a local "world cup" style tournament andboth in the same group we set up and got the magic rolled up, and then because dad had an earlyshift in the morning, we said that as this was for a tourney we didn'twanna rush it, so instead we left it there all systems go for tomorow, let battle comense!

Heres my force, we both have special characters as thats the tournament rules, he's got thanquol and i have allarielle, MAGICAL DUEL BITCHES!

Heres his more numerical force... Damn skaven, and yeah that dragon does have a warp cannon on its back! Fun fun fun, 2 cannons a helpit and a hamster wheel -.-

This is gonna get messy!

Battle Standards finished!

Wow that was quick, ireally like how that turned out, i love the fire effect and i think its simple enough to not be a pain in the but and ditract attention from the general, while still tying in with his theme (gold armour and slightly nicer blending on the clothes lol)

Variety is the spice of life!

Hordes is not my only game and i thought i might as well show off my warhammer as well, so heres my new pheonix (CAW CAW) and the everqueen along with the old limited edition bsb i stumbled upon on ebay the other day that im working on atm, imight just writeon the banner this blogs url so i actually might get some followers XD.

Cool as an ice cube.

This is the winter argus, don't think i'll get to much play time outa this puppy, but i can see it being kinda usefull with kromac as he can only cast animi when in beast mode and +2 armour would bring him up to 19, which isn't to be sniffed at so could deffinitly be worth a shot.

I like the colours used here, but i thinki might go back at a later date and bring back the shading onthe face as theres not much deffinition there, but then again mabye not as this will probs only be fielded once in a blue moon.

Oh and a good story about a winter argi i once had (before i had this model i was just using a white argus model), i was playing a sorcha player when i had a winter flanking, she popped her feat unaware the winter was immune and ate her as he left her on either no or very little focus and a few good roles meant the pup ate her whole, very funny and unexpected way to win that game!

More skinwalkers, got 4 done now, and the last 2 have had their cloaks done, but with the high elf release out (my first love) they've been taking all my time, so i've been slow to get these guys done, but nonetheless im happy with how they're looking so thats good i supose.

Kromac the ravenous time!

This guy is the shit, already fielded him once and holy crap what a step up from kaya, also such a cool model, got the beast form undercoated and the wizard form done.

I gave the wizard a blue theme to show that hes all mellow and chillaxed, and the beast forms going to go red to show he's all like "I AM GOING TO MAKE A MEAT BICYCLE OUT OF YOU"

So what am i working on now, i can imagine you wondering? Well today a spare part arrived, so i have built all my wolves, and there ready to get finished off

But first i think i'll finish off the skinwalkers as i want to feild them really badly, got another one done today after school so hopefully they wont be much longer especially with the easter hols coming up.

p.s dont worry about crummy pic quality, as im using my ds camera as this is just a workbench update not showing off the mini's upclose, so when these fellows are finished i'll give a proper pic update

Warpborn skinwalker

This guy came recently in the starter set half i bought off ebay, gonna get him an alpha to give the unit some more bite, but after seeing the model painted, i think i'll stick with the colour scheme as its notably diffrent from the normal wolves, but still ties in with the army nicelly.

Stalker time

So yeah this models good to follow round celebraties and... Oh wait wrong type of stalker, this fella's new only painted a few nights ago, still untested in battle so im hyped to use him as many people say he's an absolute terror.

Gnarlhorn

Fun to use and my personal favorite in the collection so far, he's slightly harder to use than the feral as he's less of a plain beatstick, but his slam shenanagins are brilliant.

Wolves W.I.P

The guys in the photos are one, but theres still 3 guys to paint one guy to build and a banner UA to base, i've only feilded these guys three times, but every game they've died in horrific and pointless ways, so hopefully i'll learn to play better using them soon,though i supose every dead wolf is one shot not fired at my druids or my trackers, so they're good for something.

one point wanders

This my gallows grove, wasn't initially planning on getting one, but my dad needed a tree for his conversion, so i took the second tree in the set for my force, i was very pleased with the paint job.

And a wolf of course, always handy for getting in the way and being a pain. I tried a new technique on the fur and skin here and think it worked really well, the same wetblending style has been passed onto my more recent beasties, notably the gnarlhorn and the stalker

Solo action

The Blackclad, when used by me its basically a hunters mark gun on legs, as i love that 2 inch bonus as it can often allow some bizzare charges, especially with the warp speed on the feral (13 inch charge really is just unfriendly!)

And alten ashley, purly here as i love the model and his fluff, was an absolute joy to paint to!

Pureblood warpwolf

I really struggle running this guy, which is a shame as the models so nice, but he struggles to make his points back in most games i've ran him, so recently has been more and more often replaed with the gnarlhorn satyr, who is a much blunter tool, which suits my "run and smash them in the face" style of play much better

Druids of orboros

I was told these guys were absolutelly horrid when i started playing, and the people who told me that were right! They are always causing some trouble at the front of my battles, be it with there force bolts or screening my force with there smoke or anti magic force feild, they are always a welcome headache to my opponents plans

Tharn bloodtrackers

Here are my tharn trackers, they were the first infantry unit i painted, they're absolutelly nasty if you can get their prey in there sights, but i still struggle to use them, as unfortuanetly the people at my gaming club seem to know the horror they can cause so keep the prey as far as possible away, but theyre still fun to use
